On January 25, 2024, the Institute for Analytics and Advocacy (IAA) hosted an online presentation and panel discussion on key recovery developments in 2023 and challenges to watch for in 2024.
During 2023, the IAA analyzed nearly 2,500 news reports on reconstruction, classified them, and assessed the progress and projects of reconstruction at the national and local levels. Considering the urgent issues of providing Ukraine with financial aid from the EU, the USA and their partners, legislative creativity and active military operations, the topic of operational reconstruction has moved to the secondary plan in the news agenda.
Therefore, as part of the event, was presented an overview of “Reconstruction in Ukraine 2023-2024: conclusions and challenges” and discussed issues about regional development challenges and plans that need to be resolved in 2024. The event was attended by representatives of the government and public organizations working in the field of reconstruction and public control. Representatives of Ukrainian Media League (UML) also joined to this online event and presentation.
This review is the first issue of the series and aims to help the public, observers and media representatives monitor and evaluate activities on reconstruction in Ukraine. The key topics of discussion were: regional challenges and priorities; regional reconstruction strategy – national and regional perspective and benchmarks of successful implemented projects.
The meeting took place within the framework of the Program for the Promotion of Public Activity “Join!”, which is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine.
