The MEDEA Awards, organized under the auspices of The Media & Learning Association (MLA), competition is an important platform for showcasing innovative educational projects and promoting the development of media education at the international level. This competition provides an opportunity to gain recognition among industry professionals and fosters the exchange of experiences in the field of educational technologies.
Tetiana Ilchuk, co-founder of the Ukrainian Media League (UML), has been invited to the jury of the MEDEA Awards for the fifth consecutive year. The competition annually recognizes the best achievements in the use of media (audio, video, graphics, animation) for educational purposes. This year, 137 projects have been submitted for review, including projects from Ukraine.
Since 2021, the Ukrainian Media League has been a partner of the MEDEA Awards through the Ukrainian Media Business School. This collaboration contributes to the development of media education in Ukraine and the integration of Ukrainian projects into the international educational context.
This year’s MEDEA Awards 2025 competition includes nominees in four categories:
• MEDEA Award — for the best educational media;
• Special Jury Prize — for exceptional innovation in pedagogical or technical design;
• Audience Favourite Prize — an award determined by the audience during the ceremony;
• Emerging Trend Focus – AI in Education — a special prize for the innovative use of artificial intelligence in educational media.
A new category dedicated to the application of artificial intelligence in educational media has been introduced this year, reflecting current trends in the industry. This provides an opportunity for recognition of projects that use advanced technologies to enhance the learning process.
The finalists will be invited to participate in the Media & Learning Conference 2025, which will take place on June 18-19, 2025, in Leuven, Belgium. During the conference, the awards ceremony will be held, where the winners will be announced.
