UML respects the confidential information of persons who have visited (visits) this Site and/or its services. The company strives to protect confidentiality, personal data, and other confidential information, thereby creating and providing the most comfortable conditions for using this Site and/or its services. For this purpose, UML forms and approves the Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”).

This Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy is valid for this Site, its versions, services, devices, as well as for software products or applications of the Non-Governmental Public Organization “Ukrainian Media League” (hereinafter – UML), including platforms or operating systems that function within the framework of this Site, are derived from it or integrated into it (further on in the text of the Policy, all these concepts are covered by the term “this Site and/or its services” in the appropriate cases). The owner and administrator of confidential information and personal data of users of this Site and/or its services is UML.

Principles, purposes and purpose of data use

Key principles of data processing within the framework of this Policy:

  1. Legality, openness and transparency: personal data and other confidential information must be processed transparently, comply with current legislation and inform the user about the formats and methods of processing.
  2. Purpose and purpose limitations: personal data and other confidential information may be collected only for a specific, explicit and legitimate purpose and not processed in a manner incompatible with these purposes.
  3. Data minimization: personal data and other confidential information may be processed only if it is adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary to achieve the purpose.
  4. Data quality (accuracy): personal data must be accurate, complete and up-to-date.
  5. Storage Limitations: Personal data must not be stored for longer than is necessary for the above
  • Confidential information and personal data of the user are used for the purpose of ensuring proper use of this Site and/or its services, exchanging information/news, establishing cooperation with other users through this Site and/or its services, as well as providing the user with effective customer support and personalized services, providing information about this Site and/or its services, providing services, processing requests and applications from the user, improving the quality of Services, ease of use, developing new services or services, conducting statistical and other research based on depersonalized data.
  • This Policy was created to implement the laws of Ukraine, including, but not limited to, the Law: “On the Protection of Personal Data”, “On the Ratification of the Convention on the Protection of Individuals in Connection with Automated Processing of Personal Data and the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Protection persons in connection with automated processing of personal data in relation to supervisory bodies and cross-border data flows”, “About information”, “About advertising”, “About telecommunications”, “About protection of information in information and telecommunications systems”, “About state support of means of mass information and social protection of journalists” and other current legal acts regulating this area, as well as in accordance with this Policy, the Rules of Use and/or its services, as well as acts regulating the activities of the UML.

Use of identifiers. Interaction with other resources or services

  • UML cares about its users and tries to make the stay on this Site and/or its services as comfortable as possible, for this purpose it may use identifiers (cookies, registration files, web beacons, etc.).
  • Identifiers are a text file or files, programs, codes containing a small amount of information, which are sent to the web browser, by electronic messages, used on sites and services, stored on the user’s device or transferred to the data controller. Identifiers can be unlimited in time (permanent) or temporary (session), that is, they are stored only until the browser is closed. In addition, identifiers can be set directly by the site or by third parties – other sites, companies or resources.
  • Analysis of user activity and data will help UML improve the experience of interacting with this Site and/or its services, determine the most convenient interface and navigation, eliminate errors, increase productivity and maintain the security of this Site and/or its services.
  • All information collected using identifiers may be used for statistical and analytical purposes, traffic reporting, number of unique visitors, advertising, personalization or other purposes not prohibited by applicable law; the results of the work of some of them may be provided to third parties who have permission from this Site and/or its services and exclusively for the above-mentioned purposes.
  • Information about users obtained with the help of identifiers is not sold, sold or distributed in public, and is also the property of UML. When the user uses this Site and/or his access to data or other materials, the pages of this Site and/or its services may contain codes of other Internet resources and third parties, as a result of which such Internet resources and third parties may have access to confidential and other information users. Such Internet resources can receive and process information about which resources the user has visited, as well as other information transmitted by the user’s browser.
  • The use of the specified UML services is necessary for operational analysis of visits to this Site and/or its services, internal and external evaluation of visits to this Site and/or its services, depth of views, user activity. UML does not store or process data received from these services.
  • Accordingly, if the user for any reason does not want the specified services to access his personal data or other confidential information, the user can, at his own will, log out of his account or profile, clear the identification data of the browser or service through which he receives access to this Site and/or its services, or contact the relevant information manager.
  • If the user participates in an indirect (public) discussion or communication and/or cooperation with other users or the general audience using this Site and/or its services in accordance with the terms of this Policy, he is considered automatically informed that any confidential information, personal data and other personal information provided by the user may be read, collected or used by other users of these services, and may be used to send unsolicited messages. UML is not responsible for confidential information, personal data and other personal information that the user provides in comments or messages and is not obliged to publish, delete or edit them.
  • If the user is registered on this Site and/or its services, UML can monitor and analyze the user’s actions on it.
  • By participating in an indirect (public) discussion or any form of communication and/or collaboration with other users or the general public, the user agrees that his actions will be public. Additionally, they can be included in RSS feeds, APIs, and made available to other websites using other formats.
  • As a result, information provided to users may appear on other websites, blogs, etc. UML is not responsible for any personal information that the user chooses to make public through the functionality of this Site and/or its services and the user agrees that this information will be considered as having been provided by him personally and not by UML.
  • UML allows the user to participate in direct (private) or indirect (public) discussions and communications on this Site and/or its services, including comments, recommendations, readers’ points of view, reviews, ratings, materials, etc.
  • Any information that the user provides as part of indirect (public) discussions or communications, including specifying a fictitious or real name, nickname, ID in any social network or identification services, or any content, images or photography, video or audio content, becomes public domain and may be used.

Collection and  information processing

  • When the user uses this Site and/or its UML services, the user’s data is processed. UML collects only that information and personal and personal data provided and collected in accordance with the profile sections of this Policy, and provided by the user as a subject of personal data on a voluntary basis and for the purposes of using this Site and/or its services, which in accordance with the requirements legislation is the consent of the subject of personal data to the processing of his personal data in accordance with the purpose of their processing formulated in this Policy.
  • UML is limited to the collection of the minimum amount of information necessary exclusively to fulfil the request of the subject of personal data for the functioning of this Site and/or its services. In any case where optional information is requested, the user will be notified at the time such information is collected.
  • UML does not collect any information for the processing of which special requirements are established by legislation, which may relate to racial or ethnic origin, political, religious or worldview beliefs, ways or types of self-expression, membership in political parties and professional unions, public associations , conviction for a crime, misdemeanor or conviction for a criminal penalty, as well as data related to health, sexual life, biometric or genetic data and others in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine on the protection of personal data, however, the user can independently determine and to provide such information under the conditions of performance.
  • Processing and storage of provided personal data and confidential information is carried out in data centers where the equipment that ensures the functioning of this Site and/or its services is located.
  • Provided personal data and other information are processed and may be stored in the personal data base or a separate table of the database of this Site and/or its services, as well as in separate repositories or UML databases.

Protection of information and personal data

  • UML takes all necessary measures to protect data from authorized access, modification, disclosure or destruction. These measures include, in particular, internal review of data collection, storage and processing processes and security measures, including appropriate encryption and physical data security measures to prevent unauthorized access to systems in which UML stores personal data or other confidential information.
  • UML provides access to user information only to those employees, contractors and agents of UML who need to have this information for operations performed on this Site and/or its services and carried out on behalf of UML.
  • UML uses generally accepted standards of technological and operational protection of information and personal data against loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. Meanwhile, UML cannot guarantee absolute security against any threats arising outside of UML’s response and regulation
  • UML ensures the application of all relevant confidentiality obligations, as well as technical and organizational security measures to prevent authorized or illegal disclosure or processing of such information and data, their accidental loss, destruction or damage.
  • UML may provide access to information and personal data only to authorized persons and in accordance with the provisions of this Policy and current legislation, who have agreed to ensure the confidentiality of such information and data in accordance with UML requirements.
  • Dissemination of personal data without the consent of the subject of personal data or a person authorized by him is allowed in cases specified by law, and is possible only (if necessary) in the interests of national security, economic well-being and human rights, and an exhaustive list of conditions provided for by the current legislation of Ukraine.

Access to personal data

  • UML understands that confidential and other personal information is valuable, including the personal non-property rights of any natural person, therefore it takes all possible measures to protect the personal information of users voluntarily and knowingly transferred by UML.
  • UML does not transfer personal data to third parties, except in the following cases: at the request of the subject of personal data or in other cases set forth in this Policy, which meet or are a requirement of current legislation.
  • The procedure for accessing personal data of third parties is determined by the terms of the user’s consent given by the owner of personal data to the processing of this data, or in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation of Ukraine.
  • The user has the right to receive any information about himself from any subject of relations related to personal data, provided that the surname, first name and patronymic, place of residence (place of stay) and document details are indicated, certifying the natural person who submits the request, except for cases established by law.
  • User access to personal data is free of charge. Postponement of the user’s access to his personal data is not allowed, except for the cases expressly provided by the current legislation.
  • The notice of postponement is brought to the attention of the third party who submitted the request in writing with an explanation of the procedure for appealing such a decision.
  • The decision to delay or deny access to personal data can be appealed in court in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine.

Rights of the subject of personal data

  • UML informs the user, as a subject of personal data, about his rights, regulated by the Law “On the Protection of Personal Data”, in particular: to know about the sources of collection, the location of his personal data, the purpose of their processing, the location or place of residence (residence) of the owner or administrator of personal data or give a corresponding mandate to receive this information to persons authorized by him, except for cases established by law; to receive information about the conditions of providing access to personal data, in particular information about third parties to whom his personal data is transferred; to access your personal data; to receive no later than thirty calendar days from the date of receipt of the request, except in cases provided by law, an answer on whether his personal data is being processed, as well as to receive the content of such personal data; present a reasoned demand to the owner of personal data with an objection to the processing of his personal data; make a reasoned demand for the change or destruction of your personal data by any owner and manager of personal data, if these data are processed illegally or are unreliable; to protect your personal data from illegal processing and accidental loss, destruction, damage due to intentional concealment, failure to provide or untimely provision of data, as well as protection from providing information that is unreliable or disgraces the honor, dignity and business reputation of a natural person; file complaints about the processing of your personal data with the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine or with the court; apply legal remedies in case of violation of the legislation on the protection of personal data; enter a reservation regarding the limitation of the right to process your personal data when giving consent; withdraw consent to the processing of personal data; know the mechanism of automatic processing of personal data; to protect against an automated decision that has legal consequences for him.
  • To update, obtain access, make changes, block or delete your personal data, withdraw consent to the processing of personal data that was given by the user of the Company in accordance with this Policy, or in case of any comments, wishes or claims regarding personal data, processed by UML, the user can contact the official email address of UML: info@medialeague.com.ua.

Data storage period

  • Confidential information, personal data and other information processed in accordance with the terms of this Policy are stored for no longer than is necessary for the purpose of their processing.
  • After the subject of personal data has ceased to be a user on this Site and/or its services by deleting his account on this Site and/or its services, exclusively his personal data is also automatically deleted.

Changes and additions to the Policy

  • The user, using this Site and/or its services, accepts the terms of this Policy and takes into account that it can be changed and supplemented without prior notice to users. Changes or additions made to this Policy are published by UML on this page as part of this text.
  • If the user does not refuse to accept the changes and does not agree to them separately in writing to the UML email address: info@medialeague.com.ua, this will mean that the user agrees to the relevant changes to the Policy.
  • The new Privacy Policy, with all changes and additions, enters into force from the moment it is posted on this Site and/or its services, unless otherwise provided by the new version of the Policy.
